         ISLAMIC BANK OF BRITAIN PLC ("IBB" or "the Company")

 The board of IBB announces today the retirement of its Managing Director,

Michael Hanlon, aged 62, to take effect from 31 December 2006.

The board has approved the appointment of interim joint general managers, Ashraf

Piranie, the Company's Finance Director and Gerald Deegan, Commercial Director,

pending the recruitment of a new Managing Director.

The directors wish to express their appreciation and gratitude to Michael Hanlon

for his significant contribution to the establishment and expansion into the

market of the UK's first Islamic bank.
